WHY CANADA?
Canada is a highly desirable destination for immigration due to its strong economy, generous social benefits, and multicultural society. Since the end of World War II, Canada has welcomed hundreds of thousands of immigrants each year and currently hosts over seven million foreign-born residents.
Canada’s immigration policies emphasize family reunification and economic growth. The Canadian government offers a number of programs to welcome immigrants, such as the Provincial Nominee Program, Express Entry System, or Refugee & Humanitarian Resettlement Program. These programs are designed to promote the integration of immigrants into Canadian society and offer pathways to citizenship.
The Canadian government also strives to ensure that all newcomers receive fair treatment regardless of their ethnic origins, gender identity, language or faith. To this end, it has put in place several initiatives that foster diversity and inclusion in the workplace and social life of Canada.
In addition to these measures, Canada has also implemented numerous policies that support immigrant families with access to education and healthcare services. Canada also provides generous settlement services through organizations such as Immigrant Services Organizations (ISO), which provide a range of services such as language training and job search assistance.
Canada’s commitment to welcoming immigrants is evident in its annual immigration targets set by the federal government; these targets have been constantly increasing over the past decade. In 2021 alone, over 1 million new permanent residents were admitted into Canada—a record high since Confederation—with nearly 60% coming from Asia.
Overall, Canada’s immigration system is designed to ensure newcomers have a successful transition into life in Canada while promoting a diverse and inclusive society for everyone living in its borders.
