Permanent Residence
A permanent resident (PR) is someone who has been given permanent resident status by immigrating to Canada, but is not a Canadian citizen. Permanent residents are citizens of other countries. there are several ways through which one can get permanent residency like
Express entry – A point based system, called Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), to automatically rank interested canditates and invite them to apply for PR under:
- (a) Federal Skilled Worker Program
- (b) Federal Skilled Trades Program
- (c) Canadian Experience Class
Provincial Nominee program – Every province in Canada has its own economic immigration program, where they provide nomination to suitable candidates that can contribute to their economy. Once nominated by province, federal government makes the final decision to approve applications for permanent residence.
Family sponsorship – This is for family reunification, under which spouse, dependent child, parents, and grandparents of PR/Canadian citizen can be sponsored to become permanent resident.

Study Visa
Study permit is an official document that foreign nationals need to study for more than six months at deisgnated learning institutions (DLI) in Canada. There are hundreds of colleges and universities with thousands of programs to choose from.

Work Visa
Work permit is a document that mostly required by the foreign nationals to work in Canada.
Employer specific work permit: It is given to the foreign national with a valid job offer for specific time and specific employer. Any employer who wishes to hire foreign national receives positive or neutral Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) to ensure that this hiring will not affect the Canadian Labour Market.
One cannot change the employer while having employer specific work permit.
Open Work permit : It is given to the foreign national based on the program he qualifies under. For example post-graduate open work permit, spousal open work permit, bridging open work permit etc. One can change the employer or work for more than one employer at one time.
Visit Visa
Visitor Visa: It is an official document that needed to enter Canada by most travellers. It is basically used to travel Canada for less than 6 months.
Super Visa: Supervisa is a special visa granted to only parents/grandparents of Permanent Resident/citizens that can upto 5 years at one time.

Commissioner of Oaths
A Commissioner of Oaths is a person appointed by the Minister of Justice under the Notaries and Commissioners Act to administer oaths and take and receive affidavits, statutory declarations and affirmations with the Province of Nova Scotia for use in the Supreme Court or any other court in Nova Scotia.
